Padre Garcia Polytechnic College with the support of Municipal Mayor Hon. Celsa Rivera, Vice Mayor Micko Angelo Rivera, and our College President Dr. Niño Javinal Viñas conducted the 1st Fire Safety and Earthquake Drill yesterday March 15, 2025 (Saturday) in celebration of the First Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill. The simulation was in coordination of the Office of Student Affairs under Sir Leo P. Laresma (Coordinator, OSA) with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Padre Garcia Fire Station under the supervision of SFO3 Stephanie A Malundas, Officer-in charge, Philippines National Police (PNP) Padre Garcia under the supervison of PMAJ Raymun T. Dayagan, Chief of Police and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) under the supervision of Mr. Abuel Mendoza
The BFP provides orientation and training to PGPC -ERT (Emergency Response Team), Admin, faculty, non-teaching personnel and students to impart basic knowledge on the nature and behavior of fire and to be familiar with the proper response procedures during fire emergency. MDRRMO had a workshop to PGPC -ERT regarding the Basic Life Suport. This will also help increase awareness on things to be done during earthquake and fire safety, and be more prepared in case of any incident.
The fire and earthquake drill is in compliance with Republic Act 9514, otherwise known as the Fire Code of the Philippines of 2008, which mandates educating people on fire safety procedures and protocols.
With preparedness in PGPC as our priority, our PGPC Emergency Response Team actively participated in the drill to enhance response capabilities and ensure readiness in the event of an earthquake. Disaster preparedness starts with awareness and action! Let’s continue to stay vigilant and proactive in building a safer and more resilient community.
